Hiii, hello! Lately I have been living for Thursdays, because it’s newsletter day yes, but it’s also 9-1-1 day. I don’t know what I will do when the season ends. You’re probably counting down the days for it though so that I’ll stop yapping about it. Anyway!
It’s the prom video episode- one of my favorites of the season- aka he’s her lobster, and there’s a little bit of color play happening!
Monica & Red
So, the prom outfits. We’ll talk about Rachel & Ross in a minute, but I wanted to to touch on Monica first because hello, she’s in red. I like the idea of red being her color from the beginning- red is seen as such a bold and outspoken color, and a lot of times we wear it when we want to feel bolder.
Keeping with the red theme, the robe made an appearance as well.
And in today’s edition of Which Could Mean Nothing, Gayle- the girl Chandler talks to at Central Perk- is wearing red. You know who else wears red? Yeah, you know who.
I know they say Mondler wasn’t planned out from the beginning, but I still like finding little crumbs that could be coincidence, or not.
Patchworking
The patchwork detailing on Phoebe’s skirt is such a unique little detail that almost looks like it was added on- which has been done before for her details.
You’ve heard of poodle skirts, now get ready for…. poodle cardigans? But seriously, I love this sweater and the entire outfit, actually.
Coordinating
Both Chandler & Joey and Ross & Monica mirror each other in the colors they wear- Chandler in his denim and Joey in a darker, navy blue for the bracelet storyline.
I also noticed that Ross’s coat is a similar color to Monica’s tan shirt. This isn’t the first time they’ve mirrored each other, and this time I wonder if it has to do with keeping a united front, so to speak, with their parents? This is, after all, when Monica tells them that she got fired.

We Have To Talk About the Prom Fits
Powder blue is one of the most famous colors of the ‘80s, for better or for worse. I actually really like Rachel’s dress, puffy sleeves and all. It’s very on trend, which you just know Rachel was That Girl in high school- the one that always had her finger on the pulse of trends.
And then there’s Ross, working on his music. Looking good, Mr. Kotter.1 It’s safe to say he hadn’t solidified his style at that point, but it was college, after all.
Other Thoughts
Listen, who hasn’t put a friend down as a reference on a resume? I bet Chandler was a super good boss.
Yes, Ross is my opp a lot of the time, but I actually always feel bad for him during the video. Like, he got all dressed up and then looks crushed when Rachel ends up leaving with her date.
Ugh, I’M A ROMANTIC, OKAY?

I wore a bridesmaids dress in red satin very similar to Rachel‘s blue dress. I think Phoebe‘s outfit is the best one here. Thanks, Kaeleen!💕
